Migrancy and Belonging

An art competition, an oral history program and writing workshops were carried out in collaboration with the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation. Young and old people, drawn from Lwandle, Bonteheuwel and Langa, were trained in the techniques of drawing and asked to produce paintings depicting migrancy. As a result of this project these paintings are now exhibited in the museum. A specially designed shopping bag was also produced . The painting of one of the artists was used to decorate the bag together with an extract from one of the stories that was told.
